University students looking to celebrate Mardi Gras in a celebrity-
fashion minus the hassle can be apart of Better Than Ezra’s Krewe of Rocckus extravaganza. The package includes private parade viewings with complimentary drinks and food, live performances by Better Than Ezra, Pat Green and Big Sam’s Funky Nation, as well as exclusive after parties at New Orleans’ hotspots Capdeville, Lucy’s, Red Eye Grill and Republic.
“We’re from New Orleans and wanted to give visitors and locals alike the chance to experience Mardi Gras with us as their personal hosts,” Tom Drummond, bass player of Better Than Ezra, said about Krewe of Rocckus.
Thursday, March 3
Festivities begin with a Krewe of Rocckus party at Lucy’s Retired Surfer’s Bar for Muses parade.
Friday, March 4
The weekend begins at Harrah’s New Orleans with a welcome brunch hosted by Better Than Ezra and celebrity chef John Besh, along with a Bloody Mary making contest conducted by Tom Drummond. The Krewe of Rocckus led by a local brass band will do a Second Line march to Michaul’s Cajun restaurant to watch the Krewe of Hermes and Krewe d’Etat parade down St. Charles Avenue from private viewing stands with an open bar, food and live music included. The evening ends with Pat Green rocking the night away at the House of Blues along with a special performance by Better Than Ezra.
Saturday, March 5
Celebrate Mardi Gras like a celebrity on the Tropical Isle private
balcony over looking Bourbon Street, complete with an open bar, food and live music. Cap off the evening with Better Than Ezra playing one of their legendary Mardi Gras shows at House Of Blues New Orleans with special guest Big Sam’s Funky Nation!
Some great places to stay in the area include the Hilton Riverside, W Hotel on Poydras, Westin New Orleans, or as always, befriending those long lost New Orleans acquaintances and reserving a couch!
